n. an emotion that demands to be felt (John Green) |

 No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain

I experienced a sharp pain in my chest while clearing out old photos from my Dropbox and as always, John Green hits the nail on the head with a quote from his fictional book-in-a-book An Imperial Affliction, that reads "(Pain) demands to be felt." Caught The Fault In Our Stars some weeks ago and I was just so overwhelmed by the movie. Not because some people had cancer and had to have their eyes removed, or experience the death of a loved one. It was small things like the Anne Frank house that we stopped by to ask for directions. Wandering the same streets and feeling cosy amidst the temperature. The cigarettes you had in your mouth that were actually lit. As hard as I tried to concentrate on the movie, all I could think about was how Europe last year was the best and the worst thing that happened in 2013. Don't know how you did it so I guess that just makes me an idiot for not being able to let it go.

So thank you John Green for making appreciate brief but infinite forevers, helping me to understand that some people don't understand the promises they're making when they make them and that you can't choose if you get hurt in this world... but you do have some say in who hurts you.
